Hey this is Thomas, the co-founder of the Thrive Real Estate Team at Compass and this is How to Purchase a Home in New York City. Part 4 - my favorite - Go Out Shopping.

So you've gone over your finances with Javier, right? and so now it's time to actually go and open some doors and see what it is that you like out there. First thing that we're going to do is we're going to set up a collection, that collection allows you and I, to communicate about the properties that you like and you want to see. It's all synchronized online, in a cloud and it's very easy to communicate this way. We're then going to set up appointments and we're going to actually go and visit apartments, usually I will be with you but if i'm not you're going to be confident to know that you have all the information you need to know when you do go see an apartment. After you go and see a few apartments, you know hopefully if i've done my job correctly you're only going to have to go out one or two weekends, and then you're going to want to make an offer. I have a fun couple of ways that I like to help everybody narrow down their decisions, one of the things i'm going to do is ask you to rate apartments 1 to 10 if it's not an 8 or better, you don't want it. The next thing i'm going to do is ask you to be honest, I want you to remember I didn't build it, if you don't like it tell me that will help me make sure that I find you the right place and that's when we get to the next part.
